I scream ICE CREAM!!!

passionfruit ice cream

It’s almost Summer! Yay!

I must admit. Though I’m still enjoying the “cool breeze” this mid-February, I am already looking forward to summer. Why? It’s beach season baby! Hence, it gives me a great excuse to eat more ice cream. Yum!

Summertime is also a great season to learn new things and experiment with the kids and well, the kids-at-heart. While you’re at it, why not sweat the season by making something really cool? I scream ICE CREAM!!! Oh, you don’t have an Ice Cream Maker? Wuuut?! YOU DON’T HAVE AN ICE CREAM MAKER?! Don’t worry. Neither do I! Thankfully, we can still come up with this delicious dish sans the machine. Hallelujah!

Here’s how I made my Vanilla Passionfruit Ice Cream with Cashew Nuts:

Ingredients:

2 packs (250gms) of cream ( I used all-purpose cream)

1 pack (250gms) condensed milk

1/2 -3/4 cup of passion fruit juice concentrateΒ  ( depends how tart you want it to be. I used 3/4 cup)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup chopped cashew nuts

Procedure:

1. In a bowl, whip 1 pack of all-purpose cream.(If you want to work out your arms, you can whip it manually but it will make your life easier if you have an electric mixer.)

2. Add condensed milk. (The size of the mixture will expand.)

3. Add the passionfruit juice concentrate and vanilla extract. (If you don’t have passionfruit, you may also use other fruits in season to suit your taste. You can even add chunks of fruits in there.)

4. Once you’ve made a smooth mixture, cover the bowl with a plastic cling wrap and put it in the freezer (. You may also use ice cube trays to pour in the mixture to cut on the waiting time for it to freeze.)

5. Let the mixture freeze for a couple of hours.

6. Once frozen, take it out of the fridge.

7. In another bowl, whip the remaining pack of cream.

8. Add the frozen mixture to it.

9. Fold in the nuts.

10. Cover the bowl with cling wrap.

11. Put the mixture back in the fridge and allow a couple of hours for it to freeze. (It’s best to keep it overnight.)

12. Be ready and excited to serve it for the next day! If you are in a sweeter mood, you may drizzle some honey over your scoops of ice cream. Yum! Enjoy! πŸ™‚

This recipe is enough to fill about a liter of an ice cream tub. Do you think that’s enough for you? πŸ˜‰

How does Vanilla Passionfruit Ice Cream with Cashew Nuts taste like?

Its delicate sweetness melts in your mouth and the tartness of the passionfruit gives a nice kick to the taste. The cashew nuts compliment the flavor and add texture to the ice cream. If you’re a big fan of mango ice cream like me, you’re gonna love this one. It’s a wonderful upgrade of that and it’s perfect for a tropical summer delight!Β

Project: Color Dissect 2014

“She has always wanted to be a flower. One day, she lost all her green to burgundy, purple and blue and she couldn’t be any happier.”

Today’s color palette is something I could imagine in a teenager’s room. It feels a bit ambitious and fun. What do you think? :)Wanna know more about my project? Read more about it on my previous post>> 2014 Project: Color Dissect

Summer

Project: Color Dissect 2014

“Under the shade, her yellow cheeks glowed and her lips are as bright as the oranges.”

A thin smoke danced in the air and seduced your nose before it reached the sky. Aah, the smell of meat, tomatoes, onions and peppers slowly cooking on the backyard grill. You sat on the tire swing, dangling your feet off the ground, before you said “I’m tired” and laid on the hammock hanging under the trees. Sipping on your fresh pineapple smoothie, with that silly flower behind your ear (forgetting you’re not Lilo), you basked under the sun with your lips curled on the corners, lovely in your bright orange dress. You are summer.

These past few days, I’ve been missing the cool breeze of the northeast monsoon and it sure feels a bit like summer. This inspired today’s palette. Though I love summer, I just wish that the cool winds would linger just a little be longer. This color palette will surely bring more warmth to a barbecue party.

Project: Color Dissect 2014

It’s been more than a week since my last post and I’ve been so out of the loop. Thankfully, I was able to capture some images (to be my subjects) during my last visit in our farm. So here’s to cap the weekend off: My color palette for today reminds me of a graceful ballerina. Perhaps it’s because of how the petals of these lovely blooms look like tutus. As the name suggests, I think that these hues would make a lovely ballerina party. πŸ™‚

Heliconia

Project: Color Dissect 2014

I guess when God created the rainbow, he made sure that we’ll have reminders of it from the ground and so the birth of the Heliconias (aka Birds of Paradise) came to place. Of course I just made that up but I can’t help thinking about it every time I see this beautiful plant. πŸ™‚

Needless to say, Heliconias make for a wonderful subject on my Color Dissect project. Because of its brightness and happy colors, I could definitely see this palette in a children’s playroom. πŸ™‚

Today’s palette reminds me of cosmetic colors, particularly lipstick shades. It’s interesting though how the red and beige hues popped in the picture unexpectedly. When I took this shot, I was marveling at the gorgeous lavender shades of the plant, I didn’t notice that the back side of the leaves are in fact colored red and that there was a dried leaf which got tangled amongst the sea of lavender. I thought it made for an interesting subject.

It would actually be fun to have a lipstick themed bachelorettes party for the ladies in this color palette. What do you think? πŸ™‚

Today’s color palette still came from the shots I took from Casa Luminaria. I found these two lovely antique pitchers and their colors feel a bit mystical! It reminds me of The Sugar Plum Fairy and I think that this would be the perfect palette for a Nutcracker themed party. What do you think? πŸ™‚

Project: Color Dissect 2014

Today, my family and I went to visit our neighbor, Casa Luminaria. It’s a two-hectare villa that is open to hold events or to house groups of people who’d like to go for a nice time of relaxing, away from the busy city life. What’s good about is that it will not require you to travel too far from Manila. Located in Barrio Talisay, Lipa Batangas, this beautiful place is just enchanting. I would love to be part of an event here. Their cassitas are well structured with wooden floors and furniture, antique furnishings and colorful glass window details that capture the natural light outside perfectly. Being there somehow reminds me of Casa San Pablo in Quezon, only this one felt more cozy. πŸ™‚

I took several photos of their glass and wooden windows and this turned out to be one of my favorites. I love the lamp accents and the round details on them which are in contrast to the linear patterns created by the windows and ceiling. The warm and golden colors of the lighting looked magical with the deep green shades of the window. Lovely lovely place indeed!

For this color palette, I can imagine a party with a theme of “King Midas’ Golden Touch in The Woods”. That sounds really fun! What do you think? πŸ™‚

I am in love with today’s color palette. More so, I am so enthralled by these gorgeous peonies! How God carefully created those delicate petals with colors as if dancing in crescendo, will always be something my simple mind could not grasp. I look at them and I’m humbled. Once again I am reminded that miracles do happen… everyday. Ah, the power of beauty! It always leave me feeling quite poetic. πŸ™‚

Oh and by the way, I can imagine these colors flourishing in an evening ball. What do you think? πŸ™‚

Almost Rainbow

Project: Color Dissect 2014

365 pieces of these little notes make up for a year of amazing! As my 2013 closed last year, I took some time to write a couple of things I love and admire about the man in my life. I wrote them in colorful strips of construction paper and I was in fact at the airport on my 15-hour waiting time before my boyfriend’s landing when I wrote these notes. I couldn’t have spent those 15 hours any better because it only got me even more excited to see him. In retrospect, there are a few things I realized after I’ve finished writing those notes:

1. I feel happy knowing that I could write 365 things about why I love him and could still keep going even after.

2. Each note is something to be grateful for each day.

3. At the end of my list, I felt very refreshed because it’s really good to be reminded on how blessed I am to have him in my life.

4. I really love making gifts more than buying them because I can make it as personal as I want to ( Needless to say, they can be very inexpensive too! ).

After writing each note, I placed the colorful bunch of strips in an old tin can of chocolates and called it the “365 Days of Amazing”. When I gave it to my boyfriend, I told him that he could only read one note per day from the start of the year and I think he pretty much liked that idea coz it’s almost like getting a surprise everyday for this whole year! I love knowing that a simple note could make him smile because I simply want him to reminded everyday of the kind of man that he is: Wonderful. πŸ™‚

Now going to my Project: Color Dissect, these colors are just as fun and bright as the notes written on them. I could totally imagine this palette in a fiesta-themed party. What do you think? πŸ™‚
